OYO STATE OVERVIEW:

Oyo state is an ancient state in south western Nigeria, It was named after the Old Oyo Empire, one of the strongest in Africa. Oyo state was created in 1976 from Western State, and included Ọsun State, which was divided from it in 1991. Oyo State is homogenous, principally occupied by the Yoruba ethnic tribe who are fundamentally agrarian yet have an inclination for living in urban areas. The indigenes mostly contain the Oyos, the Oke-Oguns, the Ibadans and the Ibarapas, all having a place with the Yoruba family and indigenous city in Africa, south of the Sahara. Ibadan had been the focal point of organization of the old Western Region of Nigeria since the times of British provincial tenet. Other notable places in oyo state includes Old Oyo National Park, Ogbomọsọ, Isẹyin, kishi, Okeho, Saki, Eruwa, Lanlate, Sepeteri, Ilora, Awe, Ilero, Igbeti, Igboho.
