EBONYI STATE OVERVIEW:

Ebonyi State is a state in Nigeria, in the south of the Eastern region. Known for having some of the nation's finest rice, yams and richest salt deposits, the state was named after the Aboine River which rises from the Enugu Highlands and cuts through Abakaliki. It is inhabited and populated primarily by Igbo, Its capital and largest city is Abakaliki. It is one of the six states created in 1996 by the Abacha government. Ebonyi was created from parts of both Enugu State and Ebonyi State.
