CROSS-RIVER STATE OVERVIEW:

Cross River is a State in South Eastern Nigeria, named after the Cross River, which passes through the state and also part of Niger Delta. The State was created in late 1960s from the Eastern Region of Nigeria. Its capital is Calabar. Its name was changed to Cross River State in the 1976 state creation exercise by the military government of General Murtala Muhammad. Cross River State covers around 20,156 square kilometers of area. fringes Benue State toward the north, Enugu and Cross-river States toward the west, towards the east by Cameroon Republic and toward the south by Akwa-Ibom and the Atlantic Ocean. Its main towns are Calabar South, Ofutop, Iso-bendghe Ikom, Obubra, Odukpani, Ogoja, Ugep, Obudu, Obanliku, Boji, Akpabuyo, Akamkpa, and Biase.
